KAMU 90.9 is a campus radio station licensed to Texas Agriculture and Medical University. The campus broadcaster operates locally on 90.9 MHz, while internationally, it can be enjoyed over the internet. The station operates on 32,000 watts vertically and 2,400 watts horizontally to provides you non-stop 24/7 coverage. The channel got tons of content from public format; many of them are taken from its affiliates like Public Radio International, National Public Radio, and American Public Radio. Plus, the broadcaster also produces in-house shows which are also being liked and enjoyed by its listeners.
The station was launched back in 1977 with an intention to teach the students of the university art of broadcast. The students were interested in domains like production, audio engineering, sound, scriptwriting, promotion and marketing, and many other related fields. Dom Simons took charge of the broadcaster as its first manager and hired Sunny Nash as the first program director at the site. Simons also introduced Linda Lea as a traffic director of the channel who graduated from the same university.
