WCLV Classical 104.9 is a classical operator that is licensed to the people of Greater Cleveland Northeast Ohio. The domestic people have access to it on the frequency of 104.9 MHz and HD radio while the international community took advantage of webcasting services. The studios of the channel are headquartered at Playhouse Square in Downtown Cleveland while its non-stop broadcasting is carried out through transmitter in Cleveland suburb of Avon. It also has a translator broadcaster that provides its coverage to Cleveland on 90.3 MHz and known as WCPN-HD2.
WCLV Classical 104.9 is a not-for-profit station that is funded by the donations of its fans in order to run their regular services. The shows hosted by the channel are usually related to classical music, local and international news, art & agriculture, education, health, and some community stuff. For regular programming, the station requires the effective radiated power of 6,000 watts. The station is also known by its slogan of “Northeast Ohio’s Classical Music Station”.
The channel went operational on 23rd of July, 1975Initially, the station was known as WZLE, and after various shifts, the channel took its current name in 2003. The channel has signed an affiliation agreement with Association Press, and BBC World Service, giving it legal right to host their programs.
