Pure Country 106 is a radio operator which also known in the market as “KICX.” Its call letter CICX also sounds like “kicks.” The radio provides the broadcasting coverage to the people of Simcoe County on the FM frequency of 105.9 MHz. Its daily operations are run by the power of 10,600 watts or effective radiated power. The regular business activities of the station are managed by Bell Media which is currently owning the station. The channel uniquely identified in the market by the slogan of “Central Ontario’s Pure Country” as its broadcasting format is country music.
The station first broadcasted after the end of the second world war on the frequency of 1450 kHz in 1943 in Nobel, and broadcasted on the same frequency till 1954. The first callsign of the channel was CFPS. After two years of the channel launch, it was moved to Orillia and relaunched on 3rd of September as CFOR. Currently, the channel operates from the same city in Ontario. The ownership license was transferred to Bell Media on 9th of August 2017 and rebranded as “Pure Country 106” on 28th of May 2019.
