The channel uniquely identified in the market by the slogan of “Central Ontario’s Pure Country” as its broadcasting format is country music.
The station first broadcasted after the end of the second world war on the frequency of 1450 kHz in 1943 in Nobel, and broadcasted on the same frequency till 1954. The first callsign of the channel was CFPS. After two years of the channel launch, it was moved to Orillia and relaunched on 3rd of September as CFOR. Currently, the channel operates from the same city in Ontario. The ownership license was transferred to Bell Media on 9th of August 2017 and rebranded as “Pure Country 106” on 28th of May 2019.
