The broadcaster was founded by Thomas W. Symons, Jr. and Edmund B. Craney on 18th October 1922 by the name KFDC and holding the credit for being the oldest radio in Spokane. The station changed its callsign to KFPY in 1924 and used it till 1946. In 1946 the channel adopted its current call letters. Morgan Murphy Media bought the broadcaster from Northern Pacific in 1961.
