KWTO 560, also known as AM 560, is an American radio that broadcast domestically on 560 kHz on AM channel. The station can be heard on satellite frequency across the boundaries of Springfield, Missouri. Meyer communications currently own all assets of the broadcaster along with its sister channel KWTO-FM. The station airs on talk radio format and covers topics like weather coverage, community updates, news coverage, and some entertainment shows.
The history of the station started way back on 25th December 1933 when Lester E. Cox founded the broadcaster. Federal Radio Commission approved the channel to use the call sign KWTO 560, which means “Keep Watching The Ozarks.” Initially, the station featured popular musicians like Tall Timber Trio, Chet Atkins, Slim Wilson, Wynn Stewart, Les Paul, to mention a few, during the first two decades. After 1959, the channel quit to air live music and started to offer country records. Because of its country format, it started to use the brand name of “56 Country.” The radio shifted to news and talk format on 22nd of October and became the first full-time news and talk broadcaster in Ozark.
The broadcaster not only serves domestically but also heard internationally through its web streaming service. You are also welcome to join the station on popular social media hubs to get updates and notifications.
