The history of the broadcaster was started on 25th January when it aired its first broadcast as CJOE; where Joe is referred to the nickname of its founder. The first broadcasting format of the station was Beautiful Music which later changed to soft rock and then to Top-40. The radio was acquired by Rick Richardson from McManus in 1972, and its callsign is shifted to its current moniker. Its current owner, Bell Media acquired the channel on 27th June 2013; as a result of a merger of Astral Media with Bell Media.
