720 WGN is a radio broadcaster based in Chicago, Illinois serving the areas of Chicago market, Northern Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and West Michigan. The home offices of the station are established in East Wacker Drive where they shifted in May 2018. Its transmitter from Elk Grove Village carry out its regular programming operations, and total 50,000 watts of power is consumed on daily programming hours.
The channel brand itself in the market as “Chicago’s Very Own”. Domestic listeners have access to the official programming on the frequency of 720 kHz while the overseas audience has access to its regular programming from its online portal. The English language channel is affiliated with ABC News Radio.
720 WGN commenced operations on 19th May 1922 as WDAP. Later on, 1st of June in 1924 WDAP shifted to WGN which is the acronym for “World’s Greatest Newspaper”. The current owner of the station is Tribune Broadcasting. Three other siblings also co-operate in its business “WGN-TV, WGN America, and CLTV”. The shows hosted by the radio are mainly related to sports, health, technology, news, politics, entertainment to mention a few.
